Academic Awards

Academic Awards are made at the start of Term 3 and Term 1 for the periods June and November respectively in Grades 8-11, and at the start of Term 3 and Term 4 for Grade 12 (June and September examination period). Examination period refers to the June and November academic reports.

In Grades 10-12, if more than the required 7 subjects are taken, then to qualify for awards the 4 core subjects plus the next 3 best subject results will be taken into account

Academic Award winners for 2017

For all awards, behaviour, positive attitude and commitment are taken into account. The award will not be made on merit alone.

Step-Up Certificates

  • 5%+ improvement on aggregate between any two examination periods. Grade 8 through 12 can qualify

Gold Badges

  • 80%+ aggregate in Grade 8 and 9
  • 75%+ aggregate in Grade 10 (June examination period only)
  • Can achieve in any one examination period
  • Badges are kept for two terms only and returned prior to the examination period

Half Colours

  • 70%+ aggregate
  • Must achieve over two examination periods (need not be consecutive periods)
  • Can qualify from November Grade 10 onwards

Colours

  • 75%+ aggregate
  • Must achieve over two examination periods (need not be consecutive periods)
  • Can qualify from November Grade 10 onwards

Honours

  • 80%+ aggregate
  • Must achieve over two examination periods (need not be consecutive periods)
  • Can qualify from November Grade 10 onwards

Trophies

Towards the end of every year at Speech Day, the highlight of our academic calendar, Waterfall College presents a range of trophies. These range from subject specific trophies to general academic achievement, service to the school, sport, culture, leadership, effort and improvement.
