Consumer Studies has proven to be a popular subject choice allowing our students to experiment with their creative and culinary talents.
The syllabus looks at the South African consumer and covers aspects of banking, budgeting, diet and consumer rights and responsibilities. There is a large entrepreneurial component, plus design, housing and fashion are also studied at various stages between Grade 10 and 12.
In addition to the practical component, there is a significant amount of theory to be covered, much of which is scientifically based. Consumer Studies leads to a variety of possible career opportunities, including jobs in the fashion, hotel and design industry.
