In August 2020, Waterfall Schools launches Waterfall Online – a virtual school that makes the culture of care and commitment to quality tuition available to learners beyond the iThemba Campus.
Initially enrolling students for Grade 6 to 10 in 2021, the school will be headed by Jeanette van der Merwe, in addition to her role as Principal of Waterfall College. “My aim is to extend the educational excellence and Christian foundation of the College to students beyond the campus.”
Mrs Van will be supported by Ingrid Edwards, who brings years of teaching and management experience to make the most of the opportunities technology provides. “We will develop the unique potential of each student, promoting meaningful daily interaction between students and teachers, while preparing them to grasp the opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
The school will provide access to quality education for families who are unable to send their children to school or who want to manage the learning environment, while experienced, qualified teachers support their children’s learning.
Waterfall Online will operate independently from the campus schools, with a team of qualified specialist teachers driving a structured timetable of live lessons, combined with small group sessions. They will follow the CAPS curriculum in a range of subjects to prepare students for the NSC IEB Matric. This format requires specific technological resources in the home and will suit students who are self-motivated, disciplined and eager to learn in a collaborative environment.
“We have been privileged to experience many success stories, as we have guided our Waterfall College students through their high school years. Now, we eagerly look forward to sharing our dynamic, established educational system with many more,” says Mrs Van.
