Preparatory > Learning Experience
At Waterfall Prep, we believe that learning should be an organic process guided by passionate teachers, with a focus on creating a peaceful environment where every child is secure in their own identity.
This provides a solid foundation for creative discovery and a lifelong love of learning. With a maximum class size of 24, there is time for each child to receive individual attention from their teacher.
A carefully-considered approach to assessment enables qualified teachers to monitor progress and guide learning, while reducing anxiety.
This approach isn’t unique to Waterfall Prep. Finland is known for having one of the world’s most advanced education systems, with students consistently performing well in international standardised testing for maths, reading and science. Yet, Finnish students do no homework and they don’t write a standardised test until the age of 16. How can that be? The Finns believe that learning should be joyful and encourage exploration, experimentation and learning, both in and out of the classroom. This is a belief that we share and embrace at Waterfall Prep.
We have chosen not to have a school bell, allowing lessons to come to a natural conclusion. This gives our teachers the flexibility to conduct their day in an integrated manner, spending more time on a task, when necessary, and pursuing those topics that inspire their pupils.
Our intention and belief is that, by the end of Grade 7, our pupils will be secure in their identity and well prepared for the many learning opportunities of high school. There is a natural progression from the Prep to Waterfall College.
