Preparatory > Sport
At Waterfall Prep, we encourage our children to live a healthy lifestyle, which includes participating in sport on our beautiful 41-acre campus, spending time outdoors during the school day and by taking part in local sports leagues.
Our sporting programme is aimed to be fun and allow the opportunity for our boys and girls to move their muscles and strengthen their core. We value the many benefits of sport, including boosted self-esteem, fitness, teamwork and friendship. We believe that sport is an important part of a well-rounded education, but that it should not be a cause of anxiety – particularly at Prep level. As such, we encourage participation, but it is not compulsory.
Our sporting programme is overseen by child kineticist, Dewald De Beer. PE lessons are held during the school day and are planned to develop skills that provide a foundation for exploring a wide range of activities that our pupils will, hopefully, enjoy throughout their lives.
Additional sports sessions are held after school for Grade 1 to 7 (see below).

Meet our Head of Sport
Dewald De Beer is Head of Sport at Waterfall Prep, as well as being a practicing child kineticist. His practice, Progress Through Motion, focuses on helping children with developmental coordination delays, as well as motor integration.
Mr De Beer has a passion for sport and the outdoors, but his first love has always been swimming, for which he has competed internationally.
He joined the Waterfall Prep team as he believes the school’s unique and adaptable approach to education is a key ingredient to ensuring that children develop to their full potential.
